Walked down into town to get some breakfast. Asked about parasailing. Me, very unsure about it, Howie less so, he's done it in Greece before the days of health and safety. The guy asked us if we wanted to go NOW so without really thinking we agreed and before we knew it we were on the speed boat with eight others! We were harnessed up and put out second - luckily didn't have too long to wait as I could feel breakfast heaving inside me.
It was amazing! You sat at the back of the boat, the two guys attached the buckles to the harness and we drifted 1200 ft in the air. So peaceful, apart from me shrieking! Every now and again the guy would bang the rope and the parachute would give a lurch! Never imagined I would/could ever do it but what a buzz! Amazeballs!!!
Howie took his camera but we were too tied in to get a selfie! The shadow is US!
The boat from above!
Oh well, that's crossed off the bucket list. Next a bungee jump ....
Rest of the day? Took a slow ferry across the water to a place called Russell, had a drink in an English pub and returned. Walked about the town for a bit and came back to apartment and chilled. 'Chilled' not really the right word as it must be about 28 degrees! Lovely veranda overlooking the bay. (Can see our parasail boat going by.). Sitting under a parasol reading - nice to just do nothing for a change.
Back on the road again tomorrow. Another 3 hour drive back to north of Auckland. Have to return car on Saturday to middle of city so need to be close.
Early blog today as sun is shining and there's relaxing to be done. Cheers!
