Day Fifty Coromandel to Thames

Bit of a non day!  B&B not so great as it first appeared. Both slept badly due to mozzie bites and a possum going mad at 1am! Also weird smell in the bedroom and bed of the urine description!

Anyway set off with me driving south down the west coast of the peninsula. Crazy bends again, no passing places, tight in and easy out advice continuing. Got into a queue of cars. First a car and boat, then a camper van, then me, then about 6 other cars behind. Out of nowhere came a siren, the blue light flashing and a frikkin police car pulled me over into a wee gravel bit at the side of the road. WTF? Innocently, I asked what I'd done wrong. Nothing he said but did I notice a red vehicle behind me? Yeah, yeah, I said.  Apparently I might have frustrated the red car driver by not driving faster round the bends and he might have overtaken and caused an accident. My fault, of course, very sorry, blah blah. Anyway he had his wee power trip, all the cars behind me passed and I drove on swearing  like a trooper.

Continued on to the town of Thames with the intention of walking on a trail to see The Pinnacles, an impressive mountain range. Drove along terrible tracks for about 15 km. Poor car, going through enormous potholes. After a LONG time we gave up, went into the town, had some lunch and then checked into our apartment. Set on top of a hill overlooking the bay. Very peaceful! Bought food from supermarket and just chilled for the evening. Have found accommodation in the Bay of Islands for the next two nights - only 4 1/4 hours drive away!  Or longer if I'm driving.

Only one photo today.  View from the apartment. Left it a bit late to get it at its best. Basically tomorrow we are across the bay, as far as you can see, and three more hours north.

Early night  to recharge the batteries. Night nght, all!
