Day Forty Five Wellington to Napier

320 km drive today. Started up the west coast (although couldn't see much sea) and then crossed over to the east (via the outskirts of Palmerston North, Sue!). Countryside like Perth according to Howard. Took us from 10am till 4 pm to get to Napier. Hard to drive fast as very few roads are dual carriageway and the speed limit is 100km on open roads and 50 km through towns - and there were a lot of them.
Got used to driving the Yaris now and doing much fewer of the 'Eat my Dust' manoeuvres that I did at the start - once to the police who flagged us down on the first day to tell us about a diversion!

Napier is a lovely, almost English, seaside town that was rebuilt in the 1930s in the Art Deco style!

Shops full of retro, Great Gatsby style clothes. No accommodation but hardly any people around.
Checked into a really nice serviced apartment and within five minutes had decanted the suitcase into the washing machine. Clean again!
Searched for the illusive curry house and found one round the corner.
Not the best but craving has been satisfied! Hic! Happy indigestion night!
