Day Forty Three Travel Day again

Up bright and early, refreshed after a nights sleep in a BED! The motel rooms seemed huge after 13 days in the van. Weather cool, 10 degrees, but sunny. Had a nice drive up the coast only stopping once to look at seals on the rocks and once for petrol - which is double the price of diesel! Already used a whole tank in a day!

Arrived in Picton to catch the ferry to Wellington but called into tourist info first to see about booking a room in Wellington (Internet last night wouldn't work!). Same old story, no accommodation apart from a studio room in a 5 star hotel!  Dammit, we just had to take it! 

Ferry was a calm crossing, thank goodness. So many people warned us about the rough crossing! 3 1/2 hours but uneventful. Thank goodness, too, for sat nav. Found the hotel, crawled in like a pair of itinerants and laid low! Going to move to a different hotel tomorrow in Wellington and spend the day sightseeing and planning the next fortnight.
