Decided, as neither of us are into shopping, that we'd get a bit of culture in the city. There were no organised walking tours operating on Monday so we checked online and made up a plan of doing a graffiti and street art tour of the city centre, while incorporating a lanes and alley walk. Basically covered the centre without going on the main roads. Quite a lot of the lanes were blocked off for new building work but we found plenty street art, particularly close to Federation Square.
Howie went into the art shop to buy some aerosols in case he felt inspired to add some of his own artwork.
Some good, some not so!
Some with political messages
And some quite confusing
All graffitied out, we had a pit stop and, as we were down at Federation Square where there are a lot of new futuristic buildings,
we went into this building to see what was going on.
It was a free exhibition charting the history of moving pictures from flick books to present day technology from an Aussie perspective.
Then headed down the stairs to see an exhibition by German artist and film maker, Julian Rosefeldt, called Manifesto - a bit weird and lots of film clips for the over 15s showing lots of naughty things!
He seems to work closely with Cate Blanchett.
Back on tram to hotel. (14,400 steps today) Packing bags again as tomorrow evening we are leaving Oz and heading for Chirstchurch! Hard to believe that's 4 weeks up already! Blogs may be sparse in NZ as we will be in a camper van and probably not have much access to Internet. 😩 😩😩😩
Oh joy! Just read there's been an earthquake in Christchurch on Sunday!! Hope it's stopped shaking by tomorrow night!
