Giant statue in the gardens
Day Two Singapore
First full day in Singers so decided to get hop on hop off bus to get the lay of the land. Everywhere there's great excitement for Chinese New Year and monkeys pop up everywhere.
Did the complete circuit - amazing for us newbies to Asia to see the mix of cultures amongst the ultra modern skyscrapers. Got off at the Gardens of the Bay and spent ages walking around. Felt like we were in a scene from Avatar.
The skyline is dominated by the Marina Bay Sands Hotel with the highest swimming pool in the world on the roof top (in the shape of a boat!).
Planned to have chilli crab for dinner but jet lag and watching people choosing, holding up their crab and photographing before killing and eating it was too much, so settled on a plate of Singapore noodles instead! Maybe braver tomorrow because it did look delicious on the plate.
Jet lag,lah!
(May have worked out by tomorrow how to put in smaller photos on iPad!)

Day One Singapore
Left London at 7pm for a 12 hour flight - arrived at 4pm in Singapore! Uneventful flight but long. First impressions are how clean and efficient everything is. Lots of lush foliage and exotic flowers! Taxi driver told us 4 things we have to do/see - botanic gardens, Chinatown, a night safari and eat chilli crab! Too tired to do anything so got some cash, had a beer and a plate of food and then had a quick dip in the hotel pool, under the moonlight! Early to bed!
