What we didn't realise when we checked in mid afternoon to our lovely room was that our room is next to the staircase, next to the lift and close to the entrance to the bar and restaurant (serving till 10.30pm). The noise of loud talking tourists continued until about midnight when we fell asleep. We were woken by a bleeping coming from the wardrobe - the safe!
Safe: Bleep, bleep, bleep!
H: The safe's bleeping.
Me: Ignore it.
H: I can't.
H gets up and presses some buttons, gets as many pillows and cushions as he could find, closes the wardrobe door and gets into bed.
Safe: Bleep, bleep, bleep.
H: the f****** safe's still bleeping.
Gets up and presses more buttons whereupon the safe's door starts opening and closing by itself.
H: There's a poltergeist in the safe!
More pressing of buttons and the door closes and all is quiet. He gets back to bed.
30 seconds later.
Safe: Bleep, bleep, bleep.
H: #######***^%#'o!
Out of bed, lights on, more pressing of buttons whereupon the safe alarm goes off! (Payback for all the earlier noisy tourists!).
H goes to phone and dials reception..
H: Yes, yes, the safe alarm is going off. YOUR SAFE IS BROKEN AND YOUR PHONE DOESNT WORK EITHER,I CANT HEAR YOU!
There's a knock at the door and in comes man from reception, me hiding under covers. Lots of discussion about the mistakes we had made with H protesting our innocence.
H: We didn't do anything. And the code 7777 kept flashing.
Man: 7777? Your safe has a systems error, sir. I take out the battery. Sorry for your inconvenience. Good night.
Off he goes leaving us wide awake, by this time about 1.30. Fell asleep about 4am. Clattering of dishes for breakfast started at 5.30! Mahesh beckons at 8.30 ......
